Boiled Shrimp
Zatarain's Shrimp & Crab Boil is available in most grocery stores. If you get it in a box, just throw the bag of seasoning into the pot. Don't cut the bag open. It makes the shrimp difficult to peel. You can also get liquid Zatarain's in some places. I use 1 bag and 1 tsp per two pounds of shrimp. Also, one lemon and three tablespoons salt per pound.
Ingredients
- Shrimp
- salt
- lemon
- Zatarain's Shrimp & Crab Boil
- ice
- pot
- heat
- beer
Instructions
- Boil water with the Zatarain's seasoning, lemon and salt.
- When it's at a roaring boil, add shrimp.
- Heat until it comes to a boil again. Boil for another two minutes.
- Remove pot from heat.
- Add ice to pot to stop the shrimp from cooking.
- Let shrimp soak in warm water.
- Two things happen if the shrimp cooks too long. First they get difficult to peel. The shell sticks to the shrimp. Next, they get tough if they cook too long.
- Oh! The beer is for the cook.
