I took a six month sabbatical (without pay) after leaving Auto-Comm. Traveled around the Western US and relaxed, read books and studied.
I was in Houston visiting my brother, Bill, when I saw an ad for a job in Saudi Arabia. I thought I'd check it out. It ended up that I didn't care for the Saudi job but they had an opening in Houston. I took it. It was the best move I ever made. I met my wife while working there.
I took care of local voice and data communications systems in Houston and acted as a consultant for Saudi Arabian telecom engineers. I traveled to Saudi a number of times. My last trip was in 1984.
I met Glady during my second year in Houston. We worked together and were friends. After three years, we fell in love. We moved to California to work for Chevron and got married in 1986. It's been a great life ever since.
